Take The Compliment

What if the hardest part of growth isn’t learning how to give—but learning how to receive? In this episode of I Never Thought I’d Be Here, we explore why so many of us instinctively deflect compliments, downplay praise, or feel uncomfortable being seen. We’ve been conditioned to give, to serve, to stay humble—but rarely taught how to open ourselves to receive.

This conversation dives into how dismissing positive feedback can quietly shape how we see ourselves, and how allowing a compliment to land can create a powerful internal shift. When we receive with openness, we don’t just change our self-perception—we complete the exchange for the person offering it. Giving and receiving are not opposites; they’re part of the same circuit. When both are honored, something meaningful happens—connection deepens, energy flows, and our sense of worth becomes clearer. This episode is an invitation to pause, soften, and consider what might change if you simply said, “Thank you. I receive that.”
